Zach Willeford, Wildlife Biologist, Land Management Consultant, Outfitter, Guide

Growing up in Northeast Texas, Zach Willeford had a desire to work and play in the great outdoors since he first stepped into the woods as a young hunter and has always had a passion for improving natural habitat and increasing the quality of game he was hunting.

As a youngster, he would sit in a deer blind all year round to do his homework just so he could be in nature and observe the wonderful creatures of the forest. As an 8 yr. old, Zach was heavily influenced by a close friend of his Father’s who was a wildlife biologist for a South Texas ranch. This mentor helped set Zach on his current path. Zach attended New Diana High School, where he was heavily involved in a program that his own father directed, the Forest and Wildlife Judging Contest. The Forest and Wildlife Judging teams in which Zach participated advanced to state levels all four years of his high school career. State competitions were held at Stephen F. Austin State University, where Zach would later attend college. Zach graduated 3rd in his class as FFA President, National Honor Society President, GLOBE Scholar, and Football Team Captain, and received many scholarships including an academic excellence scholarship to attend SFA.

After High School, Zach embarked on a study of his field, wildlife management. He studied at the Arthur Temple College of Forestry at SFA and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Forest and Wildlife Management. While attending SFA, he worked at the Whitetail Breeding and Nutrition Research Center helping build the facility and artificially inseminating does as a freshman and helped break new ground in the Scientific Breeding program adopted by Texas Parks and Wildlife. He also completed two fall internships in the San Angelo area learning the hunting industry and what it takes to maintain a hunting operation.

After graduating SFA in December 2002 with a major in Forestry and a minor in Biology, he quickly launched himself into managing game ranches with the prime objective of producing quality game populations and providing memorable hunting experiences.

He continues this proud tradition, after more than 8 years experience, with BRODAX.

Zach’s involvement with hunters, landowners, professional organizations (such as the Texas Chapter of the Wildlife Society – Life Member), numerous hunting operations, and many years of professional guiding and management experience ensures that each client will receive the highest quality hunting or land management that is currently available.
